Line, bar and candlestick charts
A chart is simply price drawn over time. Traders use three main styles.
| Chart | Shows | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Line | One price per period (the close), joined by a line | The big picture at a glance |
| Bar (OHLC) | Open, high, low and close as a vertical bar with ticks | Detail, in a compact way |
| Candlestick | The same four prices, with a coloured body | Seeing who won each period, buyers or sellers |
Almost every gold trader uses candlesticks, and so does the GoldBot App. They pack four prices into one shape you can read in a second.
Green (or hollow) candles closed higher than they opened. Red (or filled) candles closed lower. Each candle covers one period of your chosen timeframe: one hour on H1, five minutes on M5, one day on D1.
